FIVE WAYS TO SHOW GOOD STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship is all about taking care of things that have been entrusted to us. These include our time, talent, and resources. As Christians, we believe that God is the owner of everything, and we are just caretakers or stewards of what He has given us. Stewardship is not just about giving money to the church or charity, but it’s a way of life. In this blog, we will explore five ways to show stewardship, according to the Bible.

Be faithful with what you have: In the parable of the talents found in Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus teaches us that we should use whatever we have been given to produce more. We should not waste our time, talent, or resources, but instead, use them wisely to bring glory to God. We should strive to be good stewards of what we have, whether it’s our home, car, or any possession.

Give generously: Giving is an essential part of stewardship. We are called to give our money, time, and talent to help those in need. In Luke 21:1-4, Jesus commended the widow who gave two small coins to the temple, even though it was all she had. She gave generously out of her poverty, showing that giving is not about the amount we give but the heart behind it.

Manage your finances wisely: Another aspect of stewardship is managing our finances wisely. In Proverbs 3:9-10, we are instructed to honor the Lord with our wealth and the first fruits of our crops. Being a good steward of our money involves budgeting, avoiding debt, saving for the future, and using our resources to help others.

Care for the environment: As stewards, we are called to take care of the environment as well. In Genesis 1:26, God gave Adam and Eve the responsibility to care for the earth, and as their descendants, the same responsibility falls on us. We should strive to reduce our carbon footprint, recycle, and conserve resources wherever possible.

Live a life of service: Finally, stewardship is about living a life of service. Jesus gave us the ultimate example of service in John 13:1-17 when He washed the disciples' feet. We should follow His example by serving others in our daily lives, whether it’s through volunteering, helping a neighbor, or sharing the gospel with others.

In conclusion, stewardship is an essential part of our Christian faith. It’s not just about giving money, but it’s a mindset that encompasses all areas of our lives. As we’ve seen from the Bible, stewardship involves being faithful with what we have, giving generously, managing our finances wisely, caring for the environment, and living a life of service. By practicing these habits, we can honor God with our lives and be good stewards of His resources. The ultimate goal is to strive to be faithful stewards and use what God has given us for His glory.
